Yaw Kyei-Baffour has joined as Managing Director of Harley Reed (Ghana) and as a Partner of Harley Reed & Associates (Chartered Accountants). Prior to joining our team, Yaw has spent over 13 years with KPMG, leading major audits such as the Bank of Ghana, Central Bank of Liberia, Volta River Authority, Agricultural Development Bank, ECOWAS and many others. He was one of the few accredited trainers in KPMG. He has been involved in providing financial audit services for international and domestic organisations.
He has extensive experience in the audit of a wide range of donor-funded projects, special investigations and financial due diligence reviews. Yaw also has considerable experience gained from providing audit and other financial advisory services to a portfolio of clients including financial institutions, petroleum, commercial, industrial and manufacturing and services.
He has deep accounting knowledge obtained through work experience in various organisations where terms of reference require vast knowledge in auditing standards and accounting principles ranging from multinational quoted companies to small owner managed businesses. He has carried out varied assignments for donors including DFID, the International Rescue Committee (UNHCR funded project), European Commission, UNDP, UNFPA, DANIDA, Africa Development Bank, USAID. James has a wealth of knowledge and experience in Management, Strategic Management, Management of Tax Administration, Undertaking Restructuring of Organisations, Financial management and Management Accounting.
James was responsible for the establishment of the Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) and became its first Commissioner General from its inception on February 14th, 2000. He served in this position until 2002 and later returned to the post from 2004 to 2009. In the intervening period, James was posted to the Ministry of Finance where as Director for Public Enterprise Monitoring and Reforms, he was given the responsibility of looking after the major State Owned Enterprises.
James has held a variety of other roles including acting as General Manager, Investment and Development Bank of Malawi; Chief Executive of the Malawi Investment Promotion Agency, and as a Consultant with Pricewaterhouse.

His career has included being a Director of the School of Administration at the University of Legon, and Acting Director-General of the Ghana Education Service and Executive Director of Celltel.
